AIC Guide

For those who have found themselves on their home education journey with geographical or medical isolating circumstances, you may be eligible for the Assistance for Isolated Children (AIC) payment.

What is AIC?

It is a payment to assist families who are unable to actively access their local school due to distance or medical/disability reasons.

It is a federal payment, and thus available across all of Australia.

There is more information on the Services Australia website at https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/assistance-for-isolated-children-scheme

AIC is paid as term-based payments totalling $5169 per year.

To apply for the payment, you need to complete the AIC form (sy040).

If you are applying for medical or disability reasons, you also need to complete the associated medical form (sy099)

And if you are applying due to geographical distance, you may be asked to complete the marginal distance confirmation form (sy069)

Qld payment dates for 2025:

Term 1 – January 23rd
Term 2 – April 16th
Term 3 – July 9th
Term 4 – October 1st
