GSHS Homeschool Market Day 2024
What a day! Despite the pouring rain, the Greater Springfield Home Schoolers Market Day was an absolute blast. The atmosphere was electric, and the community spirit was undeniable.
We were fortunate to have a prime viewing spot near the stage, where we were treated to an incredible variety of performances. From talented dancers and musicians to a captivating Auslan choir, there was something for everyone. And let’s not forget that adorable little breakdancer in his gumboots and yellow raincoat who stole the off-stage show!
It was a pleasure to meet with local representatives, including Deb from The Learner First, Corrine MP (filling in for Di Farmer), and the ever-supportive Charis Mullen. Their dedication to the home education community is truly inspiring.
We loved reconnecting with familiar faces from past events and had the opportunity to chat with many interested in learning more about home education or those just wanting to share their journey and experiences. We also appreciated the chance to discuss the challenges faced by homeschooled students in accessing TAFE courses with representatives from TAFE Queensland.
The rain may have been a challenge at some points, but it didn’t dampen our spirits. In fact, it brought us even closer together as a community with a day filled with joy, friendship, and family adventures.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to Bec Mullen, who made this event possible. A special thanks to Noela, Tony, and all of our amazing volunteers for their hard work and dedication.
Thank you to Corrine McMillan MP, Charis Mullen MP, Deb Dunstone, Teresa Harding, Paul Tully, Tim Frazer, and Natalie Willcocks for your support and dedication.
A big thank you to Twisty Tatoes, Greenbank Scout Group, and Golden Churros Australia for providing delicious food and drinks.
We appreciate Tafe Queensland’s participation and the valuable information shared with our community on the options of pathways and access.
Thank you to The Rainbow Music School, Luminosity Dance, Zion Bell, Soul Performing Arts Studio, and BigStar Circus for your incredible performances.
To our 44 families who braved the rain and participated in the market, you are truly the stars of the show. Thank you for bringing the shine to an otherwise drizzly day
Thank you to everyone who attended the market and supported our community.
There’s nothing quite like seeing a child jumping in puddles with pure joy. It’s moments like these that make it all worthwhile.
We are incredibly grateful to our entire community for making this event a success. Together, we have created a space where families can connect, learn, and celebrate the joy of home education.
