Deadly Start school-based Traineeship Program

A 2026 Opportunity for First Nations Young People

Free2homeschool is pleased to share an exciting opportunity shared with us from our Education Leader in QHE, Dr. Renae Acton, for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander home educated students.

Queensland Health is currently calling for Expressions of Interest for the Deadly Start Traineeships, designed to support First Nations young people in building pathways into health careers. These traineeships are planned to commence in 2026, and importantly, the program director has confirmed that home educated students in the senior phase of learning are welcome to be included.

Full details, including contact and submission information, can be found here:

Dr. Renae has kindly offered her support to any Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander home educated young people who may be interested in applying. If you or your family would like assistance, or have any questions, please reach out to her using the button below.

This is a wonderful chance for our young people to explore future opportunities in health, and we are grateful to see home educated students included in the pathway.
